The Spring Festivals of L'Hospitalet kick off this Sant Jordi day with the opening speech by film director Marcel Barrena in the plaça de l'Ajuntament. The event will begin at 20.00 hours and will mark the start of one of the most significant events on the city's festive calendar.
The proclamation will not be made from the town hall facade, as is usual, but from a stage installed in the Plaça de l'Ajuntament, since the Town Hall is under construction. From that point, the institutional and popular start of the celebration will be concentrated.
Marcel Barrena will open the festival from the plaça de l'Ajuntament
Barrena, director of the film El 47, will be in charge of giving voice to the start of the festivities. The filmmaker has directly linked his personal and professional trajectory with the city.

He has also evoked his emotional bond with the municipality by remembering "the memories, my streets, my stories", in an intervention that will have a marked tone of proximity with the local public.

El Toc d'inici will take over half an hour later
At 8:30 p.m. the Toc d'inici is scheduled, also in the plaça de l'Ajuntament. The Banda de Provençana will participate in this act, directed by maestro Eduard Casals, within a staging that will give way to some of the most recognizable elements of popular festive culture.
The program will include the interpretation of the Ball de La balsa and the presentation of different figures and groups of the festival.
