L'Hospitalet En Comú Podem will bring to the next Plenary Session a package of motions focused on housing, education, facilities, and employment, with special attention to the increase in evictions that city entities denounce, such as the Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca.

The party demands from the City Council a reinforcement of housing policies and proposes the creation of an anti-eviction unit to intervene in cases of loss of housing. The proposal takes as reference the Service of Intervention in the Loss of Housing and Occupation promoted in Barcelona during the mandate of Ada Colau.

L"Hospitalet En Comú Podem maintains that this model has managed to stop or suspend close to 90% of the evictions in which it has acted as a mediator, with specialized teams of lawyers and social workers.

"Several evictions are taking place every week involving families, minors, and disabled people. Vulture funds have no feelings and carry out evictions, generating true dramas every day in the city. The City Council must act now" - Manuel Domínguez, spokesperson for L"H En Comú Podem

Housing as main axis

The housing situation centers a good part of the political initiative of the municipal group. The formation considers that the city needs a more solid response to evictions and defends a stable mediation service to try to stop procedures before their execution.

The proposal comes at a time when social groups warn of an increase in evictions in L'Hospitalet, with direct impact on vulnerable families. The municipal group wants the city council to assume a more active role in prevention and in social and legal support.

Claims in education and equipment

Along with the motion on housing, L"Hospitalet En Comú Podem will ask to guarantee the continuity and stability of the educational project Fem tàndem. The program was interrupted for a few weeks due to the contractual conditions of the company that manages it.

"Fem tàndem is a success experience and a very important support for the schools. For a few weeks it has fallen and we present a motion so that this does not happen again" - Manuel Domínguez, spokesperson of L"H En Comú Podem

The formation also promotes joint motions to ask that Escola Sanfeliu not close, in this case with ERC and EUiA, and to improve the facilities of the Rugby Club L"Hospitalet field, an initiative shared with ERC, EUiA and PP. In this latter case, they denounce that the lack of grass endangers the safety of the athletes.

Furthermore, supports a motion to install a provisional tent intended for the vendors of the Collblanc market square while the exterior remodeling of this municipal equipment is carried out.

Support to May Day and to the staff of Serra Soldadura

In the labor field, L"Hospitalet En Comú Podem presents together with Esquerra Republicana, Esquerra Unida i Alternativa and the PSC a motion of support for the labor movement on the occasion of May Day.

The group also registers another initiative to support the workers of Serra Soldadura, immersed in a struggle to save up to 500 jobs. In the text of the motion, it is highlighted that many families from L'Hospitalet depend on that activity, in a context of concern for the social and economic impact that a massive loss of employment would have in the city.
