The publishing company of El Tot L'Hospitalet-Baix Llobregat reported a denial-of-service cyberattack initiated on March 25th at the Mossos d'Esquadra police station in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The same computer aggression also affects the edition of El Tot Cornellà.

The attack has not prevented the reading of content or access to the social networks of both newspapers, but it has indeed hit the internal work of writing and editing. The paradox is that the websites continue to publish normally for the reader while the server receives artificial traffic to hinder the daily production of news.

The attack saturated the server, but did not compromise internal data

The complaint filed with the Mossos d'Esquadra describes a DDoS attack, a method that seeks to collapse the server with a massive volume of artificial traffic. In this case, the incident affects the fluid editing of news and causes blockages and slowdowns in internal work.

At the same time, the publishing company maintains that at no time was there access to the system nor were internal data compromised. The problem, therefore, does not focus on an intrusion or theft of information, but on the saturation of the technical infrastructure.

IndianWebs and CDMON maintained the daily publication of news

From the start of the attack, the technicians from IndianWebs and CDMON have sustained operations so that both digital platforms continued updating content every day. This intervention has allowed the informative activity to remain visible despite the blockages the team was suffering in the back end of the publication.

In addition to El Tot L'Hospitalet-Baix Llobregat, the incidence affects El Tot Cornellà, two local publications with coverage in Baix Llobregat and its immediate surroundings. The shared impact points to an alteration in editorial operations in the two editions, although without impact on the public consultation of the news.

After formalizing the complaint, the representative of the publishing company thanked the treatment received at police facilities. In his words, "We appreciate the excellent treatment received at the Mossos d'Esquadra police station when filing the complaint".
