The Health Service of the L'Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council and the Guàrdia Urbana have provisionally closed a bar in the Collblanc neighborhood after detecting a cockroach infestation in a premises that had already been intervened twice in a few days for noise and overcrowding.
The case concentrates several irregularities in the same establishment. In addition to the presence of insects, the person in charge was reported on Sunday morning for operating as a nightclub with a bar-cafeteria license and for having about 40 people inside when the maximum authorized capacity was 20.
The Guàrdia Urbana acted twice in the same establishment over the weekend
During the weekend, officers went to the bar on two occasions due to noise complaints and overcrowding. The second intervention, already this morning, again detected those same breaches and added the presence of cockroaches, an extreme that motivated the precautionary closure together with the municipal Health Service.
On Sunday morning, there were about 40 people inside.
The complaint filed then records a different use than authorized for the premises. The person in charge was operating a nightclub despite having a bar-cafeteria license, a difference that affects both operating conditions and the permitted occupancy limit.
An April inspection had already detected health and safety failures
The establishment already had recent antecedents. In April, a day of joint inspections by the Guàrdia Urbana de L'Hospitalet and the Guàrdia Civil detected administrative, sanitary, and security irregularities in the same control environment over premises.
That performance ended with three power supply cuts due to lack of authorization at the points checked during the inspection.
On that same day, products and equipment that did not comply with regulations also appeared. Agents intervened in the sale of electronic cigarettes without a permit, seized a hundred deodorants not authorized for sale in Spain, and removed expired fire extinguishers.
In April, 100 unauthorized deodorants were seized.
The L'Hospitalet City Council has incorporated all the incidents detected in the two actions over the weekend and in the inspection prior to an administrative file with which it will process the corresponding sanctions.
