Barcelona Events Musicals will cease the management of the El Molino venue on July 1st and the facility will remain closed for an indefinite period. The decision affects one of the most emblematic cultural spaces of Paral·lel and comes after months of restrictions on musical activity due to soundproofing problems.

The departure of the managing company occurs due to the uncertainty about the necessary works to avoid disturbances to the neighbors. The immediate future of the venue is thus conditioned on some works that remain pending and whose calendar has not been specified.

Restrictions since the beginning of the year

At the end of January, the Barcelona City Council communicated to BEM that the deficiencies detected in the soundproofing would oblige to close the hall in summer to execute the works. That notice opened a scenario of provisionality that has ended with the company's renunciation to continue at the front of the venue.

Since February, musical activity had been limited to weekends and until 11:00 p.m. The reduction of the schedule tried to make the programming compatible with the demands derived from acoustic nuisances.

Concerts suspended since December

The situation had already been dragging on since the end of last year. The venue suspended the concerts in December after neighborhood complaints, in a context marked by the need to correct the deficiencies in acoustic insulation.

The closure will be indefinite starting from the management handover scheduled for July 1. For now, El Molino remains awaiting the resolution of the necessary intervention to adapt the venue and allow the resumption of activity without affecting the neighborhood environment.
