Barcelona en Comú will ask the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, to withdraw an investment of 50 million euros planned for tourism promotion and allocate it to housing policies. The party will bring the proposal to the municipal plenary session on May 29 after a protest action organized in Vila Olímpica.

The initiative focuses the clash on a specific figure. While the municipal government maintains a budget to attract visitors, BComú demands that the same money be diverted to housing in a city where residential access has become one of the main political battlegrounds.

The BComú Municipal Group will formalize the request in the form of a municipal proposal. The objective is for Collboni's executive to redirect the 50 million euros intended for tourism promotion towards housing policies.

Gerardo Pisarello, BComú's candidate for the 2027 municipal elections, defended this change in priority during the event held in Vila Olímpica.

"This money, instead of being allocated to a model that must be questioned and regulated, should be allocated to housing" - Gerardo Pisarello, BComú's candidate for the 2027 municipal elections

Vila Olímpica hosted a protest with a 50 million euro bill and Collboni's face

The street action took place in Vila Olímpica with a truck displaying a message critical of the municipal government's tourism attraction policy. The protest sought to visually link the planned investment with the figure of the mayor.

On the vehicle, there was also an image of a 50 million euro bill with Jaume Collboni's face. In this format, BComú brought the political offensive it plans to defend in the municipal plenary to public space.

The proposal will be registered for the plenary session on May 29, the date on which BComú will formally request that the 50 million euros be transferred from tourism promotion to housing policies.
