Atmospheric instability has burst forcefully into Catalonia this Monday. A pocket of cold air at high altitude is unleashing intense showers.
The rains have swept through various sectors of the community during the morning. The city of Barcelona has been no exception and has registered rain between midday and early afternoon. The showers will fall with more intensity towards the pre-coastal area often accompanied by electrical activity.
Torrential rain alert
The Meteorological Service of Catalonia maintains danger warnings due to the possibility of more than 20 liters falling in 30 minutes. These warnings are grade 2 out of 6 and cover the interior and north of the Catalan geography. They also brush the central pre-littoral where greater virulence is expected.

A first batch will arrive mid-afternoon and the second at night. The fronts will continue moving from southwest to northeast during the rest of Monday. They will brush the central coast and directly affect the Catalan capital.
Weather insecurity until Tuesday
On Tuesday, the same context of insecurity will be maintained. The morning hours of sunshine will gradually decrease. They will give way to a second half of the day that will again be very unstable with precipitation that will affect the central pre-coastal area to a greater extent.
It is foreseen that it may rain at some point in Barcelona between mid-morning and night. The precipitation could be locally intense in the pre-coastal area, according to experts. The situation requires constant caution.
The showers will decrease in intensity between Wednesday and Friday although they will not disappear completely. The arrival of another pocket of cold air at high altitude could notably complicate the weekend weather.
