The Barcelona City Council will open next Monday, May 4th, the pre-enrollment phase for new students in the municipal nursery school network. The procedure will remain active until May 15th and will cover the entire available offer. Families will have access to 4,831 places intended exclusively for new enrollment. This call is part of an expansion plan that increases the overall capacity of the nursery school network to 8,993 places for children from four months to three years old.

Digital Channeling and Territorial Adaptation

All procedures will be carried out through the Virtual Office of Procedures of the city council. This electronic channel will serve both the 106 municipal nursery schools and the five kindergartens dependent on the Generalitat. Both circuits operate with the same administrative calendar. Those who encounter technical barriers to digital submission may contact the center chosen as the first option by telephone or mail. After making a prior appointment, they will be able to formalize the application in person within the same established period.

Infrastructure Expansion and Operational Adjustments

The renovation of the educational offering is based on new constructions and urbanistic reforms. The EBM Tramuntana center will incorporate its full activity for the next school year after having been built in the old barracks of Sant Andreu, next to Marta Mata passage, number eight. This facility provides 104 places distributed in seven class groups. In parallel, the space known as EBM La Mar, located at Andrea Dória street, number forty, will see its capacity increased thanks to ongoing expansion works. The building will go from the current 63 places to 100 total places.

In the Eixample district, the unit located at Conde de Borrell street, number one hundred and fifty-nine, will maintain its operation under a scheme of diversified or reduced hours. This modality guarantees the continuity of the educational service without altering the general structure of the school year.

Specific Reserve for Unique Educational Needs

An important portion of the call is aimed at guaranteeing inclusion. Of the 4,831 positions called, 538 positions have been allocated for minors with special educational needs. This provision covers children with physical, intellectual, or sensory disabilities. It also caters to those who are on the autism spectrum or suffer from severe behavioral or mental health disorders. Furthermore, rare degenerative pathologies and situations of extreme social risk that require personalized monitoring from early childhood are contemplated.

Municipal technical services will continue to monitor the occupation of these spaces during the school year. Administrative officials confirm that the distribution responds to demographic and pedagogical criteria validated by the educational administration itself.
