The Sindicatura de Greuges de Barcelona has accepted to mediate in the conflict opened in the Bloc Papallona, in the Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, where a first eviction order set for April 29 weighs. The intervention comes at the request of the Sindicat d"Habitatge Socialista, which seeks to open a channel of dialogue with the property to avoid the eviction.
First eviction date on the property
The first scheduled eviction affects Corina, the tenant whose eviction is planned for next week and which, if executed, would involve the action of the Mossos d'Esquadra. Her case is the first to reach a specific date within the conflict affecting this property in the neighborhood.
The mediation driven by the Sindicatura intends to intervene before that date to try an agreement between the parties. The objective is to stop the eviction and explore a negotiated solution with the property.
Civil lawsuits initiated in February
The origin of the process dates back to February, when the Dutch investment fund New Amsterdam Developers, NAD, requested the forced eviction of the tenants in civil lawsuits. From there, a judicial front was opened that now enters a decisive phase with the first hearing.
The acceptance of this mediation places the office led by David Bondia, Síndic de Greuges de Barcelona, in a role of interlocution in a conflict that keeps the residents of the building on alert. The intention is to gain margin before April 29 and try to prevent the eviction from being carried out.
