Barcelona allocates four million euros to the comprehensive renovation of Park Güell. The investment seeks to modernize the infrastructures without altering the heritage essence of the space.
The works focus on improving the daily experience of residents and visitors. The work will begin in the fall and will have an estimated duration of a year and a half for the electrical and technological part.
Efficient and safe lighting
The project prioritizes the replacement of lighting on the main paths and stairs of the Jardines de Austria. The children's play area on Olot street will also be intervened.
The new lighting installation opts for energy efficiency and low environmental impact. The technicians have designed a careful integration to respect the green environment.

This measure aims to deter uncivil nocturnal behavior and facilitate evening strolls. Perceived safety is a fundamental pillar of the reform.
Technology and heritage coexist
The renovation not only affects the exterior lighting. The plan includes the ornamental lighting of the Hypostyle Hall and the Hill of the Three Crosses.
In addition, the interior of the rainwater tank of the Hypostyle Hall will be adapted. These areas gain visual prominence thanks to a respectful enhancement.
In parallel, the park will improve its digital connectivity. The Wi-Fi signal will be reinforced throughout the premises and the existing video surveillance system will be updated.
The bar located inside the space will also undergo an adaptation. The objective is to offer a service more in line with current needs.

The municipal administration insists on the daily use character of the enclave. It is not just a tourist attraction, but a lung for the neighborhood.
Structural works until 2027
These improvements are added to other actions already underway. The recovery of two original cisterns and the improvement of drainage began in March.
They will finish at the end of 2027 after also renewing the affected pavements. This structural phase guarantees the conservation of the historical subsoil.
Barcelona de Servicios Municipales (BSM) finances the entire investment. The public entity directly manages the execution of the budgetary items.
Park Güell thus faces a profound but staggered transformation. The coexistence between the works and daily transit will require precision in the deadlines.
