Hundreds of families took to the streets of Barcelona this weekend to demand safer cycling conditions for children. The fifth edition of Kidical Mass transformed the city center into a colorful demonstration of autonomous mobility.
The column departed from Carrer d'Aragó and covered seven kilometers before concluding at Plaça de les Glòries. Eight groups arrived from various neighborhoods to join the main procession in a show of unity.

Organizers focused their claims on improving the connection and signage of bike lanes to ensure safe intersections. They also urged authorities to expand bicycle parking facilities around schools and pacify specific educational environments.

The route traversed the districts of Sant Andreu and Sant Martí before returning to the Eixample area. This path highlighted the need for better infrastructure connectivity across different parts of the city.
A constantly growing movement
The initiative has grown significantly since its inception in 2022. That first edition in the Eixample district gathered more than 2.000 participants and established a new benchmark for family cycling advocacy.
It now stands as an annual reference point for defending safe children's mobility in the Catalan capital. The event successfully closed a weekend full of cycling reivindications across Barcelona.
Previous activities included the Critical Mass ride on Friday and the Criticona on Saturday May 2. The latter marked the return of this specific cyclists' gathering to the city after a decade of absence.
