A motorcyclist was criminally reported by the Guàrdia Urbana after being detected driving at 123 km/h on the General Mitre ring road, in Barcelona, on a section limited to 50 km/h.
The infraction was recorded at 8:18 p.m. on Friday, April 3, when the vehicle was caught at a speed that greatly exceeded the maximum allowed at that point of the road. The motorcycle was going at more than double the legal limit.
Criminal complaint for speeding
The action resulted in a criminal complaint against the driver, as it was a high-magnitude speeding offense on an urban road in the Catalan capital. The General Mitre ring road is one of the arteries with constant traffic in the city and is subject to a 50 km/h limit in the section where the motorcyclist was detected.
Notice about the risk in city
After the intervention, the Guàrdia Urbana recalled the danger of this type of behavior behind the wheel and handlebars. In a publicly disseminated message, the force warned that excessive speed reduces the capacity for control and reaction in the face of any unforeseen event.
"Driving at an excessive speed makes vehicle control difficult, decreases the visual field and significantly increases the braking distance and, therefore, the reaction capacity to an unforeseen event" - Guàrdia Urbana, Barcelona
The case now remains in the hands of the corresponding procedure after the agents processed the complaint for behavior that clearly exceeded the permitted margin on an urban road in Barcelona.
