The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested around a hundred people and are investigating another 19 in a large-scale operation against repeat offending deployed on Friday, May 29, between the afternoon and evening in Barcelona and several municipalities in the metropolitan area. The operation, part of the Kanpai plan, also reached L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà, Esplugues, el Prat, Badalona, Sant Adrià de Besòs, and Santa Coloma de Gramenet.
The magnitude of the deployment leaves a figure that concentrates the focus of the operation. In the Metropolitan Police Region of Barcelona alone, officers arrested 45 people who had accumulated up to 635 prior offenses, in an action that combined checks on people, vehicles, premises, and public transport facilities.

During the operation, the participating forces identified 2,026 people and checked nearly 200 vehicles. Additionally, officers inspected 31 establishments and carried out anti-fraud checks at TMB facilities.
In the public transport area, the checks totaled 10,543 validations and resulted in 263 administrative complaints. The operation thus added a citizen security aspect and an administrative control aspect in high-mobility areas.
The operation resulted in 110 complaints for drugs or prohibited weapons
The police action ended with 110 complaints for possession of drugs or for carrying prohibited weapons. In the detailed balance provided, officers processed 63 complaints for possession of drugs and 16 for carrying prohibited weapons.
In addition, 44 traffic complaints were filed, officers seized a car, and confiscated 14 personal mobility vehicles. The balance also includes actions on infractions detected during traffic checks.
Among the arrests made in the Metropolitan Police Region of Barcelona are 16 people arrested on judicial warrants and 13 for violating immigration law. To that list, five arrests for theft, four for violent robbery, five for crimes against public health, one for breach of sentence, and one for assault are added.
The deployment extended, in addition to Barcelona, to municipalities in the immediate surroundings such as Badalona and Santa Coloma de Gramenet, as well as L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cornellà, Esplugues, el Prat and Sant Adrià de Besòs. In total, the operation included the inspection of 31 establishments and 263 administrative complaints in TMB's anti-fraud checks after 10,543 validations.
