Hotel occupancy in Barcelona has reached 85% during this Easter Week, with the period of greatest activity concentrated between Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday. Across Catalonia as a whole, stays in tourist establishments have approached 90% and in some parts of the territory, full occupancy has been reached.
Barcelona consolidates its tourism pace in the central days
The Barcelona Hotel Guild sets the occupancy peak in the city's hotels on the four central days of the festive calendar. The employers' association interprets these data as a sign of stability in the tourist activity of the Catalan capital, in a Holy Week with sustained demand.
The Barcelona hoteliers also maintain that the conflict in the Middle East has had a very little widespread impact on the sector. The impacts, they point out, are very specific and not very significant in certain Asian markets without direct connection with Barcelona.
High demand also in the rest of Catalonia
Outside Barcelona, tourist occupancy has approached 90%, with several destinations that are fully booked. The Intercomarcal Federation d"Hostaleria, Restauració i Turisme makes a positive assessment of the sector's performance during these days across the territory.
The federation also appreciates that the war conflict and its economic consequences have had a slight effect on visitor spending. The impact, in this case, is not linked so much to the volume of displacements as to the consumption that accompanies tourist activity.
"Everything helps people not decide to travel until the last moment. It not only affects the pocket from the point of view of tourist activity, nor is money spent in shops, which are the attraction that tourism brings" - Daniel Brasé, secretary of FIHRT
The sector's balance is favorable, both in the city of Barcelona and in the rest of Catalonia, in a campaign marked by high occupancy and by a limited impact of the international context on tourist activity.
