The Barcelona Court is trying from this Friday until the end of the month a man accused of killing Miguel Carmona Carmona, known as "Sevillita", a resident of the same building on Alfarràs street, in the Bon Pastor neighborhood, where the defendant resided. The trial is held with a popular jury.
A crime occurred in a dwelling of Bon Pastor
The events date back to November 16, 2019. The Prosecutor's Office maintains that the victim opened the door of her house to the accused and that both were in the kitchen when the stabbing attack occurred.
Always according to the public prosecutor's office, the attack caused two wounds that affected Carmona's lung and liver and caused him a massive fatal hemorrhage. The prosecution maintains that it was a "sudden attack", so that the victim could not defend himself.
The body lay on the ground at 11:00 and was not discovered until 21:30 that same day.
Arrest a year later and release on bail
The Mossos d"Esquadra arrested M.P.B. for these events on November 11, 2020, almost a year after the crime. The accused, who has no criminal record, was released on provisional liberty two days later by judicial decision, conditioned on the payment of a bail of 6.000 euros, which was paid.
The Prosecutor's Office requests for him 17 years in prison. In addition, it requests compensation of 90,000 euros for the victim's children and another 125,000 euros for her mother.
A trial amidst the neighborhood unease in the neighborhood
The holding of this trial coincides with a moment of special commotion in Bon Pastor due to another fatal stabbing that occurred last April 5 on Mollerussa promenade. In that case, a man died stabbed by a neighborhood resident when he was supposedly defending himself from a robbery attempt.
Months before, another crime had also occurred in Bon Pastor, on Sèquia Madriguera street. The oral hearing that is now starting brings back into focus a murder that occurred on a property in the neighborhood and that a jury will be responsible for judging.
