The Government will allocate more than 9 million euros to the municipalities of the Lleida vegueria for renovation, adaptation, and improvement works in public schools within the RAM program, a sum that is part of the 100 million planned for all of Catalonia. The delegate of the Generalitat in Lleida, Nuria Gil, presented the call yesterday at the Official School of Languages.
The line seeks to correct structural deficiencies in centers owned by the municipality or the Institut Català de Finances, but it starts from a prior diagnosis that explains the scope of the measure. Gil argued that in rural areas there are schools that have not received investments for many years, despite the fact that the administration already allocates about 34 million euros annually to schools.
Up to 150 municipalities in Lleida will be able to request funds to renovate schools
The aid is open to all municipalities with schools in the Lleida vegueria, which includes the regions of Segrià, Noguera, les Garrigues, Pla d'Urgell, Segarra, and Urgell. In total, up to 150 town councils will be able to benefit from this call.
As detailed by Nuria Gil, all centers in Catalonia managed by town councils are included, with the only exclusion of facilities that depend on infraestructures.cat.
"All centers in Catalonia managed by town councils are included, except for those managed by infraestructures.cat" - Nuria Gil, delegate of the Generalitat in Lleida, Generalitat de Catalunya
The subsidy may be used for any public center owned by the municipality and also for properties linked to the Institut Català de Finances. In the latter cases, the town council will need prior authorization to carry out the actions.
Works include roofs, boilers, dining rooms, and removal of fiberglass
The program foresees maintenance and improvement interventions on basic elements of the buildings. These include the replacement of ceilings, carpentry, boilers, bathrooms, kitchens, and dining rooms, as well as the improvement of enclosures.
It also includes the installation of home automation and automation systems, the renovation of lighting, and the removal of fiberglass. The objective declared by the Generalitat is to remedy accumulated structural deficiencies in the centers.
During the presentation, Gil remarked that the 9 million for Lleida are added to the ordinary investment that the school network already receives. The delegate estimated the usual spending on schools at about 34 million euros per year and defended that this new allocation is complementary in nature.
"This is an additional allocation to all the aid that is already provided; currently, approximately 34 million euros per year are invested in schools, and these funds are complementary because we have found that in rural areas there are centers that have not received any investment for many years" - Nuria Gil, delegate of the Generalitat in Lleida, Generalitat de Catalunya
The presentation of the RAM program took place yesterday at the Official School of Languages of Lleida, from where the delegate located the territorial scope of a call that could reach up to 150 municipalities in the regions of Segrià, Noguera, les Garrigues, el Pla d'Urgell, la Segarra, and l'Urgell.
