The Generalitat de Catalunya has raised the planned investment in Lleida to 213 million euros in the new budget agreed by PSC, ERC, and Comuns, which began its parliamentary processing yesterday. The figure represents 9.8 million more than the proposal presented in February and is supplemented by another 27 million in additional transfers.
The increase incorporates about thirty actions financed by a fund of 360 million for the improvement of public policies. Among these, a long-standing need in the Lleida Pyrenees stands out, as Rialp will receive 1.6 million for the first indoor swimming pool in Pallars Sobirà, a region that currently has no public facility of this type.
Rialp will cover a need that has been open since 2008
The new allocation will allow for the construction in Rialp of a comarca-owned indoor swimming pool, jointly managed by the fifteen municipalities of Pallars Sobirà. The project comes after the initiative launched by the Sort town council was paralyzed in 2008.
Those works did not end up as an indoor facility, but as outdoor pools. In practice, the region still lacks a closed public facility, and the only current option is the indoor swimming pool at the Talarn military academy, in Pallars Jussà, open to the public through an agreement with the comarca council.
Also in Pallars Sobirà, the budget reserves more than 800,000 euros for the greenway between Sort and Montardit de Baix. In La Noguera, Artesa de Segre will receive 600,000 euros for a day center and a community center for the elderly.
Irrigation maintains 52 million and Segarra-Garrigues concentrates 44
The agricultural sector retains 52 million euros for irrigation. Of this amount, 44 million are allocated to expanding the irrigation area of Segarra-Garrigues, while Conca de Tremp adds 2.8 million to expand its irrigation.
In addition, the modernization of the Pinyana system in Lleida and Alcarràs will receive 2.6 million, and the Canal d'Urgell will have one million for actions in Els Alamús, Torregrossa, and Bell-lloc. The budget thus concentrates a significant portion of the new resources on infrastructure linked to agricultural activity.
Comiols adds 8.1 million and the La Pobla train receives 7.7
In mobility, the improvement of the Port de Comiols road will have 8.1 million euros, to which 15 million planned for 2027 are added. The Eix Tranversal de Ponent incorporates an initial allocation of 51,769 euros and foresees up to 19.7 million more between 2027 and 2029.
The road network will also have 30 million for road maintenance, including preventive measures against landslides. In the railway sector, the La Pobla line will have 7.7 million to improve the infrastructure.
On the other hand, FGC Rail will receive 8.5 million for workshops, offices, and equipment at the stations on the Manresa line. The investment coincides with the year in which the company will replace Renfe as the operator of lines RL3 and RL4.
The military academy of Talarn, located in Pallars Jussà, keeps its indoor swimming pool open to the public thanks to an agreement with the comarcal council while Pallars Sobirà awaits the execution of the 1.6 million allocation planned in Rialp.
