A 32-year-old man has been criminally charged by the Mossos d'Esquadra after an incident that occurred on March 7 at noon at the C-16 toll booths, near Castellbell i el Vilar. The driver is accused of an alleged crime against road safety for driving under the influence of drugs and serious disobedience to authority.
Collision at the C-16 toll and first police intervention
The incident began when an unmarked police vehicle was heading to the toll and was hit from behind by another car that was trying to pass right behind to cross the barrier. Both vehicles sustained minor material damage, although no injuries were recorded in the accident. Upon the arrival of the traffic patrol, the officers administered a drug test to the driver which tested positive for cocaine and THC consumption.
After the initial inquiries, the Mossos informed the driver that he was being criminally reported and proceeded to immobilize the vehicle at the very scene of the incident.
Escape after the immobilization and police search
After the agents left the scene, the driver forced the immobilization system and drove off with the car. Upon detecting the escape, the Mossos alerted the rest of the patrols to try to locate the vehicle. Hours later, a unit located the car on the N-260, within the municipal district of Puigcerdà.
The officers identified the driver again and immobilized the vehicle again. In this second episode, the Mossos also attributed to him an alleged crime of serious disobedience to agents of authority.
