The Generalitat has announced a new public employment offer for 2026 which contemplates the incorporation of 8,474 public employees in Catalonia. The Government plans to approve this proposal during the month of March, according to official sources.
Reinforcement in police and emergency bodies
The breakdown of the offer includes 1,604 positions for the Mossos d'Esquadra corps, which represents a significant reinforcement in the staff of the autonomous police. In addition, 23 positions are contemplated for the Bombers corps and 12 for Agents Rurals, who operate in forest and rural areas of the community.
In the field of penal enforcement, the Generalitat has reserved 174 positions for specialized personnel, who will perform functions in penitentiary centers and related services.
Health, administration and pending expansion for teachers
The public offer also provides for 2,327 places between the Catalan Institute of Health and the Tax Agency of Catalonia. The incorporation of these professionals is pending definitive approval by both bodies.
The bulk of the offer corresponds to administrative, technical, and labor personnel, with 4,334 available positions. These vacancies seek to cover needs in different departments of the autonomous administration.
It is foreseen that the offer will be expanded later to include the teaching staff, once the data and the specific needs of the educational sector have been analyzed.
Continuity regarding the previous year
The proposal for 2026 gives continuity to the 2025 offer, which totaled 8,438 positions between the ordinary and additional call. The Govern's objective is to maintain the pace of personnel incorporation in Catalonia's essential public services.
