ERC Girona will submit a possible collaboration with the Moviment Gironí platform to a vote on June 3 in a militants' assembly convened at the party's local headquarters. The initiative comes in the full aftermath of the primaries for the 2027 municipal elections, a process that opened an internal crisis in the local section.

The tension lies in the political fit of this alliance. Marc Puigtió, who won those primaries by a single vote after another ballot was annulled, had until recently advocated for a CUP-style platform to build Guanyem with other small formations, entities, and personalities, while the national leadership had maintained that ERC would keep its own brand in major cities.

The June 3 vote comes after primaries decided by one vote

The assembly will be held on June 3 at ERC's headquarters in Girona and will have to rule on the relationship the party can maintain with Moviment Gironí. The platform is led by Marc Puigtió, former mayor of Sant Julià de Ramis and vice-president of the Gironès regional council.

The internal debate does not start from scratch. The call comes after the crisis opened by the primaries for the 2027 municipal election candidacy, which Puigtió won by one vote when another ballot was invalidated.

From that result, the focus has been placed on both local leadership and the formula with which ERC wants to present itself in Girona. The June 3 vote is interpreted within that organizational struggle.

Puigtió had advocated for a broad platform and now adds the ERC logo

Until recently, Puigtió advocated for promoting a municipalist platform in the style of the CUP to build Guanyem together with other small formations, entities, and personalities. This approach placed the project outside the classic format of party acronyms with which ERC usually competes in major cities.

Against this idea, Elisenda Alamany, secretary general of ERC, stated a few months ago that "ERC, as always, will present itself with its brand in the main cities of the country." The leadership's position added a clear limit to any convergence formula in Girona.

In recent weeks, however, Puigtió has begun to incorporate the ERC logo alongside that of Moviment Gironí in public events. This gesture points to a possible attempt at rapprochement between the platform and the republican structure in the city.

On June 3, the local section's membership must vote on that possible collaboration at the ERC headquarters in Girona, with Puigtió at the head of Moviment Gironí and after a primary election that was decided by a single vote.
