Jonathan Andic has been placed in provisional prison for the death of his father, Isak Andic, founder of Mango, after testifying before Investigating Court Number 5 of Martorell. Judge Raquel Nieto Galván has charged him with a homicide offense and set a bail of one million euros, which was paid in less than half an hour.
The case took a turn months after the court dismissed it as an accidental death. The reopening in March 2025 was based on contradictions detected in Jonathan Andic's account of the excursion on December 14, 2024, on the Coves de Salnitre route, in Collbató, where his father fell down a ravine of more than 100 meters in the Montserrat massif.
The judge reopened the case upon detecting contradictions in the Collbató excursion
Isak and Jonathan Andic were walking together when the fall occurred at a three or four-meter step, narrow and without a railing. At that point, a lateral imbalance can lead first to a ledge about four meters wide and then to the precipice.
Jonathan Andic stated that his father had stopped to take photographs, but the Mossos d'Esquadra found the mobile phone in the deceased's pocket. He also claimed to have taken that excursion alone about 15 days earlier, although his car's locator placed the vehicle in Montserrat on December 7, 8, and 10.
The investigation moved from the Martorell unit to the Criminal Investigation Division, based at the Egara Complex. The police report totals 1,400 pages and will now have to be reviewed by the defense teams, including that of Cristóbal Martell, Jonathan Andic's lawyer.
Furthermore, three hikers who later visited the area raised the same doubt about the point of the fall, asking if he could have fallen there alone.
The case file incorporates the family conflict and the investigated's previous movements
The judicial resolution also incorporates the deterioration of the relationship between father and son in the business and patrimonial sphere. Jonathan Andic had been removed from his position at Mango after negative business results, a departure that led to a rift with Isak Andic and prompted them to start joint therapy.
The instructor places in that context the recommendation of a psychoanalyst specialized in families of the Barcelona bourgeoisie, who advised Isak Andic to advance the inheritance to his son during his lifetime to repair the damage caused by the dismissal. Later, in 2024, Jonathan Andic learned that his father was preparing a foundation for vulnerable people that would reduce his assets.
Judge Raquel Nieto Galván maintains in her writing that Jonathan Andic has an "obsession with money." The business group closed 2025 with 242 million euros in net profit, a figure that appears in the economic background of the investigation.
Another element that is part of the case is the trip Jonathan Andic made to Ecuador between March 24 and 26. Upon his return, he stated that his mobile phone had been stolen in Quito and later acquired an iPhone 16 PRO with a WhatsApp account without old conversations.
