Getting married in Girona already costs an average of 25,183 euros in Spain and the upward pressure on prices is felt more strongly in high-demand regions such as l'Empordà, la Garrotxa, el Pla de l'Estany, and the Costa Brava. The increase affects celebrations that have expanded beyond the day of the ceremony.

The paradox of the sector is that weddings do not need more guests to cost more. Although couples adjust the number of attendees, the total budget does not decrease because they allocate more money to gastronomy, decoration, photography, music, and personalized details.

The cost per guest rises to 225 euros even though guest lists are adjusted

The 2026 Wedding Sector Report from Bodas.net places the average attendance per wedding at 115 people and calculates a cost of 225 euros per guest. This combination confirms that the final outlay remains high even for celebrations with fewer attendees than a few years ago.

In Girona, this trend is particularly noticeable in destinations with strong appeal for weekend weddings. Demand in l'Empordà, la Garrotxa, el Pla de l'Estany, and the Costa Brava drives a model in which the wedding is no longer concentrated solely on a few hours.

Many couples now hire services that were previously exceptional. In addition to traditional organization, wedding planners, content creators, food trucks, cocktail bars, children's entertainment, and pet-friendly spaces are added.

Celebrations are extended with pre-wedding events, brunch, and accommodation

In l'Empordà, the format of pre-wedding events has been consolidated, with prior gatherings that include catering, space, decoration, music, transportation, or accommodation. The budget grows because the experience includes several parts of the weekend and not just the main banquet.

Brunch-style breakfasts after the ceremony are also gaining ground, especially in farmhouses and estates with rooms. This scheme fits with weddings that have become complete getaways, with a welcome dinner, an overnight stay, and activities linked to the region.

The reduction in guests, therefore, does not translate into automatic savings. Part of the money that previously went to a larger guest list is now redirected towards a longer and more personalized celebration.

Most couples avoid loans to pay for the wedding

Financing maintains a stable pattern despite the increase in spending. Couples usually cover the wedding with a combination of their own savings and gifts from guests, without resorting to loans.

The data comes at a time when the wedding format in Girona is increasingly oriented towards full weekend stays. In that model, post-ceremony brunches are already common in farmhouses or estates with accommodation.
