The chemical company Olipes, based in Campo Real, has appeared on the leak page of the SafePay ransomware group after suffering a cyberattack. The gang's publication was made on the 19th and set a three-day deadline for the payment of a ransom whose amount has not been disclosed.

The case places a company with an international presence on the target list of a group detected at the end of 2024 and specialized in double extortion. Olipes was founded in 1993, manufactures lubricants and petrochemical products, has over 2,500 references in its catalog, and exports to 45 countries.

SafePay gave three days to pay an undisclosed ransom

The inclusion of Olipes on the group's leak portal implies that the attack has entered the public pressure phase, a common tactic in double extortion operations. In this scheme, attackers not only gain access to systems but also threaten to disseminate information obtained during the intrusion.

SafePay was detected at the end of 2024 and is among the groups capable of encrypting data in less than 24 hours from initial access. This timeframe reduces the reaction capacity of affected companies once network entry occurs.

In this case, the gang announced on the 19th a three-day deadline to pay the ransom. So far, no amount linked to this demand has been made public.

The gang had already attacked Spanish companies, medical centers, and entities

Before targeting Olipes, SafePay had already linked its activity to attacks against Ingran Micro, Conduent, Waterford Surgical Center, and Medical Research. Among the affected are also Serveis Médics Penedés, Cámara de Valencia, Avance Agrícola SL, Solge, Grupo Azpiara, and Estrumar.

One of the precedents with the greatest impact was that of Ingran Micro, which affected 42,000 people according to available data. The variety of targets shows activity directed at both private companies and organizations in other sectors.

Olipes operates in the chemical sector and maintains foreign business in dozens of markets. The company, founded in 1993, has over 2,500 references and exports to 45 countries, a reach that gives dimension to the incident.

The firm Escudo Digital contacted Olipes to confirm the cyberattack and has indicated that it will update the information when it receives a response from the company.
