A fire on a bus forced the closure of the C-31 this Saturday near Badalona in both directions shortly before 7:00 PM. The Mossos d'Esquadra closed the road while several units of the Bombers de la Generalitat worked to extinguish the fire.

The flames were not limited to the vehicle and spread across the entire width of the road, which worsened the traffic disruption on one of the access routes to Barcelona. The closure caused traffic jams as vehicles waited for emergency services to control the incident.

The fire was controlled in about 20 minutes and allowed the entrance to Barcelona to be reopened

Emergency teams managed to control the fire approximately 20 minutes after it started. From that moment on, traffic began to recover partially in the direction of Barcelona.

First, one lane entering the city was reopened. Shortly before 7:30 PM, the Mossos d'Esquadra opened a second lane in the same direction, while vehicles continued to accumulate in the Badalona area.

The outbound direction remained closed while smoke was visible from Montjuïc

In contrast, the exit from Barcelona remained completely closed after the flames were controlled. The disruption persisted while tasks related to resolving the incident on the C-31 continued.

A column of smoke generated by the fire could be seen from various points in the city. Among the places from which it was visible was Montjuïc, where several residents shared photographs on social media to alert about the magnitude of the smoke.

Shortly before 7:30 PM, the Mossos d'Esquadra had opened a second lane entering Barcelona, but the outbound direction remained completely closed.
