On 5, 6 and 7 July, the
Privacy Laws & Business 23rd Annual International Conference will take
place in Cambridge
More than fifty international experts will meet
in St. John's College for the "Privacy
Practices on Trial" conference, the aim of which is to analyse the work of data
protection authorities around the world. A number of themes will be addressed,
among them the legal implications of incidents in data protection, international
security standards, cloud computing, the future of privacy regulation and Privacy
by Design, reform of the EU Data Protection Directive, and banking secrecy,
along with many others.
Esther Mitjans will take part in the "Fair Trial - Protecting Patients" Parallel Session with presentation of her paper "How Spain's new data protection code regulates the conduct of clinical trials and encourages Privacy by Design". Privacy by Design and codes of practice she points out, bring preventive elements to the management of personal information at the same time as they represent a key tool in approaching concerns relating to privacy and data protection. In short, Privacy by Design and codes of practice contribute to proper application of the Law on Data Protection (LOPD) in the healthcare sector and ensure efficiency and security in the processing of personal data pertaining those involved.
